This BedJet review shares my findings of the product and reveals how actual buyers felt about it. As you read through this post, you will also learn how much this high-tech bed gadget gained interest from people over the last several years. Let’s first start with what BedJet is.

About BedJet

BedJet is a bed technology startup company based in Rhode Island and Connecticut. As I researched the firm, I found that BedJet is a serious technology company that brought material science and fluid dynamic design into the bed. The founder of the firm worked as an engineer for NASA who involved in building the spacesuit for the space agency. Specifically, the founder, Mark Aramli, was responsible for heating, cooling, and climatic comfort of the spacesuit.

Using his expertise, he invented BedJet that effectively controls the temperature of your bed. The company is fully self-funded out of the corporate members. It seems that BedJet is also a socially-responsible company that states they understand that the BedJet is a luxury product that many in the world cannot afford. Recognizing that aspect, the firm donates a portion of every sale to charities.

BedJet Major Features

We’ve learned that BedJet was designed for your quality bedtime experience, and high technologies are the enabler of that. Let’s find out how specifically this product can benefit you (and your partner too).

Fast Cooling and Heating

Temperature is one of the biggest factors that decide our sleeping experience. We don’t want our bed too cold or too warm. Without a proper measure, it is very difficult to manage the temperature during Winter and Summer. BedJet has a silent motor that can control the bed temperature. You can make your bed cooler or warmer whenever you want.

No Body Sweat

I first thought BedJet is just a device that controls the temperature similar to the heating bed mat. What makes BedJet more special I think is its ability to control humidity. By being able to control humidity, BedJet can remove moisture and body sweat while sleeping. This feature is especially useful for those who suffer from night sweats and hot flashes.

Biorhythm Function

The temperature and humidity can be controlled in even a smarter way. BedJet can personalize a program that controls heating and cooling according to your settings for every hour of the night. You can use the temperature change as your alarm clock, which will be not noisy for sure and less annoying too.

Remote Control

You can control these features by a remote controller or even the intelligent Bluetooth Sleep app. I know you always have your smartphone next to your bed. With the remote feature, you will not have to get out of your bed to control BedJet.

Simple Install

Installing BedJet is not difficult at all. Unlike the heating mat that has water tubes in it, you will not have to lay down an uncomfortable mat either. It simply does not change the feel of your mattress as BedJet explains on its website. It does not come with thick hard mattress pads or mattress toppers too. You can install BedJet regardless of your bed size or mattress type. The company says that the install will be finished in just several minutes.

Dual Temperature Zones

If you share your bed with your partner, you and your partner may have different preferences over temperature. Even both of you prefer warm temperature, the degree of warmness also can be different. Can BedJet make both of you happy? It seems so. BedJet claims that it can create dual temperature zones in your bed.

According to BedJet, over 50 percent of couples have different sleep temperature preferences. It is a challenge to meet the needs of both of the couple. If one temperate is good for one, it may not be ideal for the other. This can make one frequently wake up in the middle of the night, which also disturbs the other. In the worst case, the two might sleep in a separate bed.

With BedJet’s temperature regulation technique, it can create independent cooling and heating zones for the couple. Each partner can have own remote control for their half of the bed. BedJet says “You can have half the bed cooled and crisp while the other half is tropical warm and toasty.”

BedJet vs. Electric Blankets

Compared to BedJet, electric blankets are more approachable due to low prices and more stores selling them. So, you might wonder what advantages BedJet has over electric blankets. For comparison, I referred to the BedJet blog that explains this topic.

Heating Up

The BetJet article pointed out that electric blankets can take up to one hour to raise the bed temperature by 20 degrees Fahrenheit. That is contrary to the BedJet that can raise the king-sized bed temperature by the same 20 degrees F in several minutes. That is about 10 to 15 times faster the speed of any electric blanket or electric mattress on the market. This allows you to fee the warm and the cool temperature when you get into your bed.

Cleaning

It is not easy to clean electric blankets. You will have to use some external service to clean them. If you clean it by yourself at home, you might break it or after a few times of cleaning, it may not function properly. The BedJet does not have any blanket or mattress. You just use it with your existing bedding and sheets which can be washed anytime at home.

Safety

Electric blankets have wires inside, and you can feel them. BedJet says that those blankets can be chewed by pets or damaged by kids and sharp objects, which would expose electricity outside. Old electric blankets can cause fire from wires too.

Prices

BedJet has different product options. The three below are version 3, the latest model.

  • BedJet 3 Climate Comfort System (remote controller included)
    • $399.00 (same price on the BedJet website as well as Amazon)
  • Certified Refurbished BedJet 3 Special
    • $339.00
  • BedJet 3 Dual Zone Climate Comfort System for Couples
    • $899.00

When your power outlet is located a bit far away, you might want to consider to buy Air Hose Extension to reach your bed. The extension accessory is $19.99.

Other Points

I think there are other factors you may want to know. One of them would be electricity bills since you have to turn on the BedJet throughout the night. BedJet says that “No high A/C bills”. They didn’t mention about it in more detail though. Plus, the latest version, BedJet 3, is equipped with an IoT chip that can communicate with your Smart Home system. What does that mean?

That means your BedJet can connect to your WiFi, and it can be controlled even by Alexa, Amazon’s digital assistant. Also, for example, you can even integrate the BedJet 3 into the whole Smart Home network and configure to automatically turn on the BedJet when your lights get turned out according to the CNet coverage.

How People Think About BedJet

When you see product introduction from a company, you will always hear great things about it. No company will reveal any weaknesses or defects of the product, obviously. So, as a consumer, it is wiser to doubt what they say and do your own research before making a final purchase decision. In this section, we will learn how actual users think about the product. How can we measure these? We can do this by using data analysis techniques called sentiment analysis.

You don’t have to be scared by the technical term. I did the technical part and you can just look at pretty graphs. In this section, I will show you two types of graphs – word cloud and customer sentiment chart. For the analysis, I’ve compiled more than 750 customer reviews from Amazon and conducted analysis to summarize them. I will show you the result in a word cloud and a customer sentiments chart. And, lastly, I will share a BedJet’s Google trend result that shows the level of interest from people.

Word Cloud

Word cloud is one of the great and fun ways to understand customer sentiments toward a product or a service. In a word cloud, you can see specific words in different sizes. The larger it is, the more people used that word to describe the product. For this word cloud, I used the titles of the reviews, since people put the essence of their opinions in the title. The 750+ reviews allowed me to generate an interesting word cloud that let me reach a positive conclusion. Let’s have a look!

Positive Word Cloud
Positive Word Cloud

Understanding the word cloud is easy. Just follow your eyes and see what you see. You will see that most of the big words are all positive. This means that customers have had a positive experience with their product and service. People used words like “great”, “love”, “worth”, “amazing”, “wortheverypenny”, and more positive terms to describe the BedJet.

Customer Sentiments

In the word cloud, we were able to observe what descriptive words people used to talk about BedJet. As mentioned, the word cloud is based on the titles of customer reviews, but the sentiment analysis graph was generated by the contents of the reviews. In the sentiment analysis, we will see more specific types of feeling that people showed in their review. In the analysis, you can see 10 different sentiments such as positive, negative, trust, anticipation, joy, fear, sadness, anger, surprise, and disgust.

The technology behind the chart is straightforward. The analysis algorithm holds 10 different lists – each list containing words that are mapped to one of the 10 sentiments. When this algorithm runs, it checks and matches with one of the sentiments. When matched, it is counted as one and is categorized in one of the 10 sentiments. My analysis on the positive reviews appears as below.

The chart is also not difficult to understand. You can see that the positive sentiment is ranked number one. The first rank is followed by “negative”, “trust”, “anticipation” and “joy”. It does have some negative opinions, but overall, people expressed more positive sentiments than negative ones. So my customer review analysis told me that many people have a positive experience of this high-tech gadget.

Google Trend

As the final segment of analysis, let me share the trend of BedJet. I used Google Trend to check how frequently “BedJet” is searched on Google over the past 2 years. Google Trend is a useful tool to measure the interest of people. The more frequently people search on Google, the more popular or trendy it is. The Google Trend (may not visible on a mobile phone) of the BedJet below shows that people have constantly shown an interest in the gadget over that period.

If this trend continues, the level of interest is likely to go on for a time being. Please note that the trend is from the whole world. If I divide it by country, we can see that the largest interest came from the United States. To see the country rank, find the list icon at the bottom right and click it. It will turn into the rank.

If you see the list, people in the Netherlands showed the second biggest interest, followed by Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Conclusion

As I researched the BedJet, I especially liked the fact that the product was invested and developed by science and technology, which led to the ease of use and comfortability. It controls the temperature not only to warm but also to cool your bed. Quality of your sleep correlates to the performance the next day. I think this is a great investment for you and your partner.
