Calpak Luggage
So, there are many other products Calpak has. Let’s find out more details about the luggage.
Luggage Sets
The first luggage product category Calpak has is luggage sets. If you need more than one luggage for your family, this can be a good option for you. Calpak has various luggage set options having two or three luggage per set. It seems that you can have a discount when you buy them in a set.
The luggage set that has the lowest price tag starts at $325USD, and they have two luggage bags. The highest one is $425, and they have three. The set products are a combination of carry-on and check-in luggage.
Carry-On Luggage
You know the merit of using carry-on luggage. You can make the check-in time much faster. If you take domestic flights often or take a business trip by yourself, carry-on luggage can be a good fit for your purpose. As of January, there are 11 different types of luggage with a price range between $165 and $285. The most expensive one, $285, is the premium luggage.
Check-In Luggage
Of course, check-in luggage is a necessity if you travel abroad with your family. I think you can’t give up the size when it comes to luggage. There are 14 different luggage styles with a price range between $180 and $385. There are premium versions too with the price $335 and $385.
Customer Reviews Analysis
When you consider to buy a product or to use a service, you will wonder what experiences other buyers had. Investigating the reviews of other users can lead to a better decision, and it is a wise thing to do as a consumer. If people are dissatisfied with it, they will complain about it and won’t recommend it. If they are happy, they will leave positive comments and share their great experiences. If we can compile and analyze those reviews, we can have an assurance about the product or the service.
That’s what I am going to do for you. I used around 300 reviews people left on the Calpak website and summarized those data to generate easy-to-understand graphs and charts. Those visuals will allow you to understand the overall sentiments the customers had toward the Calpak luggage. They are also extremely easy to understand.
Please note that those reviews, however, were not only for their luggage product but for the others. Still, we can have a good understanding of their products including the luggage range.
Calpak Luggage Positive Word Cloud
In a word cloud, some words will appear bigger because those specific words were more frequently used among customers. So, the bigger the more frequent, thus, if those big words are positive, it proves that most of the customers had a positive experience. Have a look at the word cloud of the Calpak products.

The word cloud above should have given you a good impression of their products. The most frequent word that actual customers used in their reviews was “love”. Other big words are also positive – “perfect”, “great”, “beautiful”, “amazing”, and many more. Just by looking at the word cloud, we can learn that most of the people were satisfied with their product.
Among the words, they frequently mentioned “bag” and “bag pack”. The word cloud overall is positive thus we can guess that many people had a positive experience with Calpak’s bag and bag pack products.
Customer Sentiments
The word cloud tells you what descriptive words people used for the product. There is another angle we can use to understand the Calpak customer reviews. That is by categorizing the reviews into a type of 10 sentiments. While I used the review titles for the word cloud above, I used the review contents for the sentiment analysis. The result is the graph below.

I was able to run my sentiment analysis code to find out what specific sentiments people had over the luggage product. As we could guess from the word cloud, more than half of the review contents were positive. Of course, people shared negative experiences. I haven’t seen any review that is all positive. Despite the negative reviews, overall, people left positive comments on the Calpak products.
Calpak Interest Trends
Another type of analysis I often use for a product review is using Google Trend. It is an extremely helpful service by Google that gives you a historical Google search trend. The idea is that if a product or a company can maintain or can increase its search volume over many years, it supports the quality of the product. If a product is bad, people won’t show their interest and eventually will never search for the product anymore. Then, how is the trend of Calpak? Plus, how has people’s interest in general been changed?

The blue line shows the interest trend (or search trend on Google) of Calpak from the whole world over the past 5 years. The trend line shows that overall, the search volume has been increased over that period although there were fluctuations. This trend line of the steady increase can indicate the quality of the Calpak products.
Note that this is a global trend that does not come from the U.S. only. If we break down by country, it looks like below. As you could guess the biggest search happened in the U.S. followed by Canada and the U.K.

Luggage Packing Tips
Now we have discovered the Calpak luggage product and looked at my analysis of the customer reviews. For those who have made a purchase decision, I’ll share luggage packing tips in this section. For these tips, I referred to the Qantas blog and the Skyscanner article.
1. Make a smart checklist
I know this is an obvious tip, and you have already done it. But, have you tried using an app? The Qantas blog introduced PackPoint – a smart packing list app. If you write down a list on paper, it can be easily lost. But, if you use an app, you can keep it longer and safer. Your checklist for the coming travel can be used again.
2. Culling belongings
I personally tend to put more clothing than I actually need. My head keeps thinking “just in case” and add more. I believe it is right to have enough underwear and socks. The blogs recommend preparing clothes for all weather contingencies, social events, and activities you are planning to attend.
More tips. Choose neutral colors – black, white, grey, beige, or navy and also one or two accent colors that can match your neutral ones. Try to bring only one jacket or to remove one pair of shoes if you are bringing multiple pairs.
3. Consider buying miscellaneous items at your destination
You might be tempted to pack miscellaneous items such as umbrellas, pillows, books, and others. With those extra items, it can be hard to lighten your luggage. In this case, you can consider getting those items at your destination. If you don’t mind buying an extra umbrella, consider buying while traveling if rainy. Instead of books, you might want to bring an ebook reader or buy a magazine or newspaper.
4. Fill the gap with small items
When it comes to packing, space is a scarce resource. Small items such as socks, underwear, T-shirts, and shorts can be useful to fill the small empty space and serve as buffers for fragile items. If you want to pack glass bottles or other similar items, you can consider to wrap them in your clothes to protect them.
5. Prepare travel-sized toiletries
You may want to check if your accommodation provides toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, and so on. If not, try not to pack full-sized bottles like full shampoos, body soap, or lotion. Instead, check near stores to find travel-sized toiletries. Those small convenient items for travel are easy to pack and disposable when you use them all.
6. Reduce digital devices
Another type of item you want to reduce is digital devices such as a laptop, a digital camera, or a tablet. Try to find any replaceable items. For example, can you use your smartphone instead of a digital camera? Do you really need both a tablet PC and a laptop? Sometimes I pack my laptop in my carry-on bag and pull it out at every security checkpoint. And, I never use it at my destination.
7. Roll and fold your clothes
I know you will not do this, but don’t just dump your clothes into your luggage and waste your time for ironing at your hotel. Fold or roll your clothes nicely and pile them in an organized way. Try to use compression bags if you can, which will reduce the overall size of your clothes.
8. Weigh your luggage
If you are over-enthusiastic, you might have to throw away some of your belonging at the check-in counter. You should check the weight limit and the number of bags allowed for carry-on and check-in. The weight limit can be different from your airliner and seat class. Once you find out the limit, weigh your luggage and remove heavy items if you exceed the limit.
9. Use light luggage bags
Don’t underestimate the weight of your luggage. According to this luggage article, the average weight and size are:
Luggage Measure | Length | Weight | |
---|---|---|---|
Size | Inches | Pounds | Kilos |
Small | 21 – 22 | 6 – 10 | 2.7 – 4.5 |
Medium | 24 – 26 | 7.5 – 12 | 3.4 – 5.4 |
Large | 28 – 30 | 8.5 – 13 | 3.9 – 5.9 |
For your information, the Ambeur Carry-On Luggage of Calpak weighs 7 pounds. The most expensive one, Jen Atkin Carry-On Luggage, weighs 8.8 pounds. Refer to each product’s detail page to find the specifications.
10. Decorate your luggage
Sometimes you might see the same luggage bags moving out of the conveyor belt. In that situation, you don’t want to open the luggage to check if it’s yours. To make your bags identifiable, it will be a good idea to decorate your bags a little. Attaching some stickers or tags will be enough. Having said that, stickers from your destination can be good small souvenirs.
Conclusion
In this post, we learned about Calpak luggage and my analysis result of customer reviews. We also looked at the Google search trend that showed a stable increase over the past 5 years. All combined, it seems like Calpak luggage has been loved by most of the people, and chances are you can be one of them.
