Have you ever experienced this disaster that you drilled your wall to just hang a picture, but it ended up drilling into a water pipe behind the wall? Or, like a remodeling contractor, you are renovating your client’s house, but you are worried about breaking invisible electrical wires or duct pipes behind a wall. Walabot is a scanner that you can attach to your mobile phone and see what is behind a wall. This post will review the product and share how actual customers think about this device.

Before jumping into Walabot products, let me explain about the firm.

About the Company

The company has developed its flagship product, Walabot, using Vayyar’s 3D image processing technology. The firm designed Walabot with the aim to help people conveniently and safely detect object hidden around them. It could be behind a wall, ceiling, or floor. With Walabot, you can basically see though walls to uncover the hidden including pipes, metals, wooden studs, and even movement. It will significantly save cost and time since you don’t have to break a wall and cover it again if the spot is not what you wanted.

The product was not designed only for pros. Thanks to the ease of use, anyone can use it with a mobile phone. Walabot has two major consumer products including Walabot HOME and Walabot DIY. In the next section, we will have a look at each product.

Walabot HOME

Walabot HOME has recently been released. The purpose of this device is to detect any fallen incident and warn you. You can use this product to protect your elderly parents or young kids. The Walabot website says that 80 percent of falls happen in your bathroom. To sense a fall, Walabot HOME does not depend on any wearable device or cameras. So, you don’t have to have any security concern.

What you need to do is just deciding who the device calls when a fall happens. The device allows two people to talk to each other in the event of a fall so that a person outside can take necessary actions. You can set Walabot HOME to make a phone call to you or send you a text message.

If I add more statistics found in their website, 25 percent of the people aged over 65 experience a fall every year. More importantly, 90 percent of the elderly who get help within an hour are able to return home. In average, it will cost you $30,000 for a fall. Walabot HOME will help you to protect our important family members.

Walabot DIY

Walabot DIY is the most popular product. You may have come to this blog wanting to find out this product. We already learned that Walabot DIY lets you see behind walls. What types of objects can it detect then? It will be able to scan:

  • Woods and metal studs
  • Electrical wires and cables
  • PVC and metal pipes
  • Movements behind walls

Walabot DIY can see through up to 4 inches or 10 centimeters into walls. You can also map large areas and save the images for analysis. Unfortunately, Walabot does not support Apple iPhones. You should have an Android phone with the version of 6.0 or over that has a USB on-the-go. It gained popularity and attention from the media such as The New York Times, BBC News, Fox and more.C

How Customers Think About Walabot DIY

When you sell products to customers, you will want to talk about good things to convince your customers. So, it is very important to hear from actual customers and decide whether or not to buy the product. In this section, we will learn how actual users think about Walabot DIY and the firm’s service. How can we measure these? We can do this by using data analysis techniques called sentiment analysis.

You don’t have to be scared by the technical term. I did the technical part and you can just look at pretty graphs. In this section, I will show you two types of graphs – word cloud and customer sentiment chart. For the analysis, I’ve compiled more than 1500 customer reviews from Amazon and run analysis to summarize them. I will show you the result in word cloud and a customer sentiments chart. And, lastly, I will share a Walabot’s Google trend result.

Word Cloud

Word cloud is one of the great and fun ways to understand customer sentiments toward a product or a service. In a word cloud, you can see specific words in different sizes. The larger it is, the more people used that word to describe the product. For this word cloud, I used the titles of the reviews, since people put the essence of their opinions in the title. The 1500+ reviews allowed me to generate an interesting word cloud that let me reach a positive conclusion. Have a look!

Understanding the word cloud is easy. Just follow your eyes and see what you see. You will see that most of the big words are all positive. This means that customers have had a positive experience with the service. People used words like “works”, “great”, “fivestars”, “worksgreat”, “easy”, and more positive terms to describe Walabot DIY. Among them, “works” was used to say that the product works as advertised. This word cloud alone may have already given you a good impression since the result was quite positive. To give you a bit more details, I will share another sentiment analysis.

Customer Sentiments

In the word cloud, we were able to observe what descriptive words people used to talk about Walabot DIY. As mentioned, the word cloud is based on the titles of customer reviews, but the sentiment analysis graph was generated by the contents of the reviews. In the sentiment analysis, we will see more specific types of feeling that people showed in their review. In the analysis, you can see 10 different sentiments such as positive, negative, trust, anticipation, joy, fear, sadness, anger, surprise, and disgust.

The technology behind the chart is straightforward. The analysis algorithm holds 10 different lists – each list containing words that are mapped to one of the 10 sentiments. When this algorithm runs, it checks and matches with one of the sentiments. When matched, it is counted as one and is categorized in one of the 10 sentiments. My analysis on the positive reviews appears as below.

The chart is also not difficult to understand. You can see that the positive sentiment is ranked number one. The first rank is followed by “negative”, “trust”, “anticipation”, “sadness”, and “fear”. It does have negative opinions, but most of the people had positive sentiment toward the service that the positive sentiment took the first rank.

Walabot Trend

As the last piece of analysis, let me share the trend of Walabot. I used Google Trend to check how Walabot is searched on Google over the last 3 months and I found that people constantly searched for Walabot, which shows a stable trend.

My review analysis supports that what Walabot promises on their website is not wrong, and actual customers love Walabot DIY. If you have a doubt about this product, I believe that you don’t have to be worried.
